Dr. P. Anandha Nayagi, M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D.- HOD

N.K.R. GOVT Arts college was started in 1969. Department of Tamil was also initiated in the same year. The sanctioned strength by the University was fifty Students.
M.A. Tamil Literatre was started in 2003 and 36 Students were admitted in it. In 2007 &II Shift in B.A. Tamil Literature was given approval to be started and 50 Students were admitted Admission for B.A. and M.A. Tamil Literature has been going on as per the sanctioned strength.
The mission of Tamil Literature is to make the Students understand the significance of their mother tongue. Students are advised to learn discipline through their mother tongue. Since the Students from poor families and belong to rural background, the Department of Tamil focuses its attention in uplifting the Standard of the Students.
Department of Tamil Conducted Tamil Literary Association and Muthamil Vizha every year . It conducts many Competitions in View of there functions and gives away Prizes to deserving Students.
Competitions for literary Association and Conducted among Tamil Department Students and Muthamil Vizha Competitions are meant for inter Department Students
To improve the Students spoken skill, Writing skill, memory power, Knowledge and artistic sense oratorical competition, essay writing , short story writing, Thirukkural recitation, Quiz Program, Skit Dance, Music, Fancy dress and painting competitions are conducted and prizes are awarded to Students.
Apart from that, Students are given training to prepare articles for seminar and symposium and oratorical skills. Students are helped to get training for job training and practice for competitive examinations through computer.

ASSOCIATION INAUGURATION

The Inaugral ceremony of Tamil Literary Association was held on 01.10.2015 at the college Auditorium at 10am .
A debate was conducted on the following topic. Do the youngsters help our society progress or not? Eight Students took part in it and there were four students each team. A Post Graduate Student was the judge for it.
The Programme started Tamil Thai Vazhthu at 12pm. Principal Dr. M. Jayanthi Violet presided over the function and delievered the Presidential Address Dr. S. Banumathi delievered the key note address on `Women in Sanga Illakkiyam’.
It was followed by a skit on the Topic, `Liquor will destroy the Family’- Kudi Kudiyai Kedukkum organized by Students of II B.A. Tamil ( I-Shift). Fancy Dress Competition also was conducted Students who exhibited their talents in Debating Drama and Fancy Dress Competitions were given Prizes.
Students took part in Dance Programmes and entertained the audience. The salient feature of this function is that the Students themselves did Welcome Address, compering and vote of Thanks. The function came to an end with the National Anthem.

Activities 2017 - 2018

On 16.09.2018 10 PG Students Participated In The Seminar, Conducted by Vysya College and Jairam College.
On 11.09.2018 PG Student Won Second Prize In The Rangel Competition Held During JCI Week.
ON 01.10.2018 District Level Oratorical, Essay Writing, and Poetry Competitions Conducted by Tamizh Valarie Thurgau. In Which 35 Colleges Participates. Which was Conducted In our College by The Tamizh Dept.

Namakkal Avinger Ram lingam 127TH Birthday Function Conducted On 18.10.2014. Oratorical, Essay Writing, Drawing Competitions Were Conducted among The Students. Dr. Anantha Nayagi gave a Speech about ‘Namakkal Avinger Social Thoughts. ‘DR G.Sasirekha gave a Speech about ‘Namakkal Avinger Life History. ‘Prizes were distributed by The Principal to the Student who won In Competition.
