The Department of Microbiology of N.K.R, started in the year 2006 -07 is offering the 3 years B.Sc Microbiology programme. The back bone of the Department is the intellectual rigor provided by a strong team of faculty members & students, coming from all places. The Department has a strong base in Microbial technology and the main focus of the courses offered is on Microbial Genetics, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Genetic Engineering, Environmental Microbiology, Medical Microbiology, Industrial Microbiology and other areas allied to biological sciences. Considerable number of research papers is published in the journal of National & International repute.
Department of Microbiology regularly organizes seminars & workshop to update the students about the recent developments in the field of Microbiology & related Sciences
A candidate who has passed Higher Secondary Examinations in any one of the biological sciences under Higher Secondary Boards of Examination, Tamilnadu or as per norms set by the Government of Tamilnadu are permitted to appear and quality for the B.Sc Microbiology degree Examination of Periyar University.
